Rider weight for a Welsh C

What would you say is the maximum weight a 13.2 Welsh C could comfortably carry for hacking only.

I am about 11 stone in my kit I should think and my chunka munka 13.2 doesn't turn a hair...so more than that! I am, I hope, a reasonable rider and don't bounce about.

Really - now this is very interesting.

I do not know (and won't pretend to know) anything about riding ponies but I do own a 13.2 Welsh C that I may be loaning out. I am getting many calls about her & the one thing I don't know is what weight she could carry.

Off this forum I've been advised 9 stone max!! So there is some difference in weight. I'll keep watching this post.

I was going to say 11-12 stone. depending a bit on the ability of the rider.

I would think 12 stone easy! I rode my friend's 13.2 NF and I am 6foot and 11 1/2 stone and he didn't bat an eyelid. I felt a bit silly though!

i have a 13.2 welsh mare, i am around 11 stone and she seems quite happy with me, could probobly carry more

I have ridden a 13.2hh welsh C of the same sort of build and I was proably 12 stone at the time. she really was not bothered!

The 13.2 pony i used to have was happy to jump with 11 stone, but i probably wouldnt let anyone of that weight ride our sec c whos not as stocky as my other pony was. Probably about 10 stone max.
