Riderless horse found in Canneston Woods (Pembrokeshire)

Hope rider is found but it would be easy not to know if somebody had not returned home. Here in rural pembrokeshire most of us have our own yards or fields are rented out,. there are not big livery yards like in England, it a farming community where everybody does know everyone else and the police will have contacted people and people will call be talking to one another. I am luck to live in such a caring community.

However, we have lots of holiday makers who come down here some with their horses and if you don't know the country it is easy to get lost especially in the woods mentioned, we have also had a lot rain so very slippy and we have bogs to. The word was spread round here very quickly amongst the horse community, so rest assured people are communicating and looking,

Just to update you. Police have rung friend of mine to say search is now called off as no one has been reported missing, but they are still actively looking into the incident. They thanked everybody from the riding community here that turned out last night to help with the search.

Sorry don't know what happend to the horse we didn't get much info on that. But sure that would have been taken in locally. All very odd though.

Don't sound right to me. Surely if a horse is tacked up loose in the woods the rider has to be somewhere. Or if the rider/owner walked to safety ( like I have done after the horse buggered off) you than need to find your horse.

Is this a similar situation to the harnessed horse in the river?

Perhaps there is a traveller community nearby

Just because no one has been reported missing, doesn't mean there isn't.. what if it's someone who lives alone and has their own land? That's how people have accidents at home and don't get discovered for days/weeks :(

Most horses will make their own way home they don't need someone else to show them the way. Sad to say one of mine who had a knack of managing to unseat me in the most filthy ways (usually into a ruddy bush with blackthorn was a favorite!) always made her own way home with me trundling along behind her at some point - don't think we ever called the police :o

Can vouch for the very muddy and slippy we're in Wales at the moment and Ar*e over T*t comes to mind

I hope whoever it is is ok and that the horse was uninjured.

According to the Facebook page, a riderless horse was reported to the police, which of course they took seriously and sent out search parties, mountain rescue etc. But according to the Facebook post "no-one has come forward". I'm not sure exactly what that means though, whether no-one has come forward with any info about anyone missing, no-one coming forward to claim the horse, or whether it means that no-one is coming forward owning up to being the person who found the horse and alerted the police if that makes sense?

Was there ever a horse or was it a hoax call do you think ?
Teg

I don't know, but there are questions.....who has the horse currently? Has it been all over the news and radio? Was it in ridden tack or driving tack? Surely any search would only be stopped if there was no hope of finding a rider....while there is still a chance of finding a rider, any search would still be ongoing...I could of course be totally wrong ( I usually am!) but it just sounds strange to me.

PRP Rider Rescue [content removed]. Aside from the Rider Rescue aspect, this comes with three extra tags for tack etc that are personal to the owner/animal with contact number for 24/7 call-centre and full data-base. This would stop all these problems.

Nothing like getting in some free advertising for your company - not matter what the circumstances

Wasn't a hoax - but it turned out that the horse was from a local stables and was being tacked up and escaped.

Don't worry - the first screen of the website will be enough to put most people off!

Agreed

But it just irks me that he thinks its appropriate to flog his wares at every opportunity on this site.

So with any luck after seeing what he is like nobody will bother with his horse and rider product or his other business

I certainly wont after this

We know exactly where you are?!? Sounds very scary and menacing to me!

Plus, what use is an app if you're in the middle of bloody nowhere with sod all signal?!? Agree, totally inappropriate advertising
