Anyone used ? reviews etc

Farrier has given me a normal rasp to use to tidy up feet between trims to prevent cracking, but I struggle badly to use it.

Not used one but my farrier really rates them. If I did more hacking I would definitely get one!

I have one, it's OK for a little tidying up, but I use a proper farrier's rasp for anything that needs more off or shaping. 'spensive for what it is.

I bought proper rasp off Ebay from a barefot trimmer, he only uses them for a week, re sharpens and sells them about half price., but i really needed a tripod to do a prop job.
Tarmac is the best rasp.

I use a four way rasp bought from an online tack shop. I really need a tripod though, especially for hinds.

I bought one, didn't last very long and took forever to take anything off, wouldn't buy again. I have the radius rasp which is slightly better but still doesn't take a lot off at a time

didnt really rate them tbh. Your better off getting a 13" farrier's rasp off eBay-easier to use initially than a normal size rasp and not generally sharp enough to do any damage but sharp enough to be useful.

Just as a note my farrier has stated that using a tripod for hind feet is dangerous-he said it after seeing someone on the yard using one, I did not think to ask why

i use the radius rasp and like it a lot, it gives a great shape but agree with xgemmax that it's good in between trims to keep a roll on the edges but you may get pretty knackered if you want to take a lot off!

For those after a tripod a car axle stand does the trick and has a nice hoof shaped dip in the top .

I have heard better things about the radius rasp than the riders rasp blade wise http://radiusrasp.com/
but use a standard rasp myself.

I have a radius rasp which I've used a few times just to neaten a bit. Then my farrier stated (after I said it looked a bit like a cheese grater) that I should 'use it for grating cheese and keep it away from horses feet' :rolleyes3:

I have a Riders' Rasp - it's very useful.

I have one but do a much better job with a farriers rasp so I use that .

I bought a farrier's rasp, it does me for tidying up chips and was £20 cheaper than a rider's rasp.

Gave my riders rasp away and bought a farriers rasp.

Not worth the buy in my opinion you can do a much nicer job with a rasp and I found it less work.

I used to do my mare's hooves myself, just gave them a rasp around every fortnight (she was pretty well retired due to arthritis). I "liberated" a small road cone and found that made a pretty good tripod.

Prefer the radius rasp, myself. One of our farriers recommended it and its great for just tidying the edges.
