Anyone out there know of routes and B&B's for a 3 day break with own horses. The ridgeway trail website is very informative but any experience would help me work out a better chance of success.

We were going to go to the New Forest but I think my horses would become unsettled with roaming ponies and wild boar but again any experience please tell.

The neds have not been anywhere or in a horse box for aout 5 years so I want to make it enjoyable not hell for them.

We are near Cheltenham so anywhere in a 50 to 100 mile radius would be an acceptable distance.

Thanks

Parts of the Ridgeway are very heavily used by scrambling bikes, mountain bikers, and even 4x4s (although they're not supposed to after 1st October until March I think). It's also very stony for long stretches. That said, the scenery and history are fantastic.

you could easily put together a good route and B and B stops just locally in the Cotswolds if you didn't want to travel very far or indeed to encounter wild boar or loose horses! i have done similar things myself in the area (Naunton and Mickleton and Broadway way) but then you don't have the advantage of a way marked route

I would highly recommend Adds Farm, which is on the edge of the Ashdown Forest. The riding is brilliant, the facilities for visiting horses are brilliant (with proper turnout that you manage yourself), and on top of that the accommodation for riders is really comfortable. You even get your own sitting room for chilling in the evenings. Food is fantastic as well. You can do escorted or unescorted rides.
(Much nicer experience than Coldblow Farm imho, I've been to both).
