I've been asked to ride a 12hh welshie because it's rearing and misbehaving with both it's rider (who's 6) and the person who they have had "schooling" it (who's 11). Neither of these 2 girls are very expirenced and the pony is taking the piss, I think.
I sat on her this afternoon and she was very tense so I walked round a bit, got off and lunged her for a bit and then got on afterwards and she was much better. We stuck to mainly walk to get her to relax. The YM came out and watched and said I was doing a good job and she eventually came down into a nice outline.
So two questions. Firstly, I weigh 8 stone and i'm 5ft3, am I too big, i'm not riding her forever, just until these problem are sorted. Secondly, any tips for getting a pony to calm down
(btw i'm getting the physio out for my 2 and I'm going to get her checked as well)
