Hi
I dont often post on here more of a browser but im after ideas and wwyd?
Anyway my 8 yr old arab mare has been on box rest due to injury. She has had 7 wks box rest, 4 wks paddock rest (very small paddock), and now im meant to ride her half an hour a day, walking only, progressing to 45 mins inc a bit of trot. Now she has coped fab but the poor girl hasnt had a proper leg stretch in 3 months so its a bit like riding a coiled spring. Got on first time no bother but just walked round paddock. She is meant to be hacked out, which is fine, did this b4 injury but she isnt the best tbh. Roads round me not over quiet. The problem is when we are on way back she wants to trot, cant trot cos of legs so she is bouncing. Am just sitting quiet n trying to encourage her to walk quiet but any ideas on how to keep her from blowing a gasket??

Thanks for reading :-)

Thanks for replying, took her with a friends very safe cob, he sanwiched her in from the traffic but she still bounced on way back even tho he does nothing. i could ask a friend to walk with us but not sure this would stop her as she does blow up if i walk her in hand, worse than if i ride her although she is easy to hold on to. N lol OH doesnt know one end of horse to another he he :-)

What I did with mine was to initially take her out in hand twice a day but with two people one on each side with a lead rope attached to each side of the head collar. (Bridle on under head collar just in case). Started with a 5 minute walk and built it up over two weeks to a 1 hour walk.
