riding after hip replacement

Hi I had left hip replacement (BHR) in nov 09 and right bhr 10 weeks ago. I am doing really well with my walking and physio but am really looking forward to starting to ride again. Before my surgery I was riding daily and competing regularly. I would love to hear from anyone else who may have had similar surgery as i am wondering when would be a sensible time to get back in the saddle. My doctor said its up to me and just to be careful! which i fully intend to do.
 
My friend (older lady of 60) had a hip replacement in Feb, she was back SJing yesterday at our local show. She is fantastic and doing well. The only downside was she finds she cannot ride wide horses anymore so she swapped her 17.2 ID for a 16 hh TB which was arranged via her RI. Lady too big really for very light weight TB and who now loves her new ID.
