Following on from the Riding after operation post..

My husband had half his prostate removed 2nd September and he has basically done no excercise since. He has been to work this week part time, and is planning on starting back at the gym a couple of days a week to start building his strength up.

He has penciled in the diary to get on his horse on 22nd November - 12 weeks after the op.

Has anyone experienced returning to riding after this op? How did it go?

Obviously men or husbands.. before I get you lot sending me your witty replies..

Assuming he is peeing normally and comfortably during the day and night he shouldn't have a problem with riding. If he is anxious about possible leaks it might be worth padding up for the first couple of rides, just to give him extra confidence. If he has been given any meds to control his bladder neck function it could take up to three months before reaching maximum benefit. Good luck!

All is fine with peeing, back to normal. He just aches sometimes if he has done a lot of excercise.. ie. walking the dog.

Everything seems to have gone so well, he just doesn't want to do anything too quickly and take a backwards step.

thanks for your reply. x
