So was talking to a friend about not being able to take one of the horses to a show on Sunday because hes being vaccinated on Saturday.. She found this strange as she had been told by vet to leave them off the rest of the day and work away as normal after that.. Where as I was always told (also by vets) not to over work/ sweat them for 2/3 days after?? Just wondering what you knowledgeable people think!

Thanks in advance!

Like your friend, my vets have always told me not to ride on the day of the vaccination to avoid excess sweating, but it's fine to carry one as normal the following day.

Huh. In my experience doing light work after their vaccinations gets their blood flowing and in turn reduces soreness and stiffness in the area they got their shots in. They seem much better off if they get their feet moving and blood flowing.

I've always been told a little light schooling after a vaccination is ok, just nothing which would cause excess sweating.

I've been told that the day off the vac's off, then carry on as normal. The vac's have been improved etc, so should not cause any problems.
