I have never ridden the same day as Toffee is vaccinated, however I wondered if I was alone in this? She doesn't react adversely to her jabs but I was wondering whether a gentle hack would benefit her or whether it's best to carry on with no work on that day?
Just a ponder as she is getting jabbed next Friday (my birthday, what good timing!!

That's probably why I never have, I just can't remember why now! lol! I imagine they would feel a bit rough and stiff in their necks afterwards. On the plus note, Toffee does get some exercise running away from the vet in the first place

My vet said that in the past you shouldn't but with modern vaccinations it is fine, just don't let them get sweated up.

I hack to and from the vets for jabs because I am too cheap to pay call out when every hack means I go past the surgery anyway! So TBH if you want to go for a walk then why not? I walk him 20mins back from the vets.

Asked my vet about this yesterday when she was out doing jabs. She said, gentle walk on the day of the vaccination itself, but can be worked as normal the following day.

i have hacked to and from the vets for vaccinations as do a lot of people. vet never had a problem with it - my horse always has his in his chest anyway. modern vaccines are safe, sensible not to get them too sweaty but otherwise it's fine. i have always gone back to normal work the following day.

That's exactly what our vets have always told us too.

Always told by vet not to get them hot or wet for 2 days after vaccinations! So have usually just hacked out gently the next 2 days. Not ridden on the jab day tho. Hope that's some help.

Personally i make that day the horses day off. you wouldn't want to go the gym for a good session after you had an injection would you?

Nope, but I'd walk to the corner shop, or home from work! I hardly think a 20 min walk can be equated to a gym session!!
