After a long period, several years, of not riding my horse (ISH that I bred and raised from a foal), due to depression/work commitmments and many other excuses, I have now started again...and he is just being so good.

He had been started with a NH trainer, and then spent a few months with him again about 5 years ago. He remembers everything, and while a bit humpy with girth/saddle- if I lunge him a few circles each way before I hop on even that is not a problem. He (and I) just get worn out quickly because so unfit.

He has a lovely trot and canter, and so light and responsive to the aids - I am just kicking myself that I have wasted so much time. I am also grateful that he was there waiting for me. When he looks fit (or more fit) I will post a photo. So now an planning how to squeeze in enough rides to get him fit enough to compete at adult riding club with him.

So if there is anyone else out there in the same boat - just do it - get out and get stuck in.

Thank you all - His name is Kings Counsel by Kings County (IRE) ID out of an Aussie TB mare.

Photos will come but after seeing all your fit horses - i want to do him justice.

I feel so much better it is just like something has clicked inside and I can start living and feeling again
