ooh good luck!! no tips really, but if it helps i got put on an absolute PRIG of a gelding, who decided he did NOT want to go where I wanted to go, and tried to reverse all over the pigging show in the middle of the road lol
I still passed!!! Apparently, I handled it in the safest manner possible, and dealt with the traffic etc safely, and the examiner was rather happy about it lol (she was trying not to laugh as the cars came- bloody thing!! XD)
anyway- my point is, i'm sure you'll be fine! Just relax and be safe, thats literally all you need to do Good luck!!!
I did mine at sixth form as part of the NVQ 2 riding and horse care. College paid for us to sit the test to cover riding on the roads.
When we took our test foot and mouth was about so the route started in the road on a pretend road, then went onto the road to the back entrance to the yard, in and perform a U-turn, then back out onto the road to the main entrance.
Unfortunately, the horse I was on had already done the route once and we were last to go (we had to wear numbers and I was 13...should've known). As we came into the yard to do the U turn he saw all the other horses settling down to their dinner. Then when we went back onto the road he just set his mouth and took off down the road. I had no chance of stopping!
I was really upset after as I thought they would fail me. They failed me as they saw me upset and assumed I was a nervous incompetent rider. Didn't have the energy to argue my case and just took it again next year! The next year they tried to make me have number 13 again. I asked for 14 to be on the safe side!
My top tip would be to keep calm and if something goes wrong just correct the situation calmly, checking your observations as you go. I watched someone fail because she took the right corrective action but forgot to check for traffic before dismounting. Good luck.
