Riding around Hedge End, SO30 - whats it like?

Keeping my options open, I have had an enquiry from a lovely girl who wants to loan Archie. She wants to keep him in SO30 area, Hedge End near Southampton.

Can anyone tell me what its like, though I seem to think it is rather a built up area.

All he has ever known is ruralness, I have to really make an effort to go on a road. We do and he's fab but its country lanes, they occassionally get busy, but not like a proper road.

I am sure he would take it all in his stride but I am just not happy about him going somewhere with lots of traffic. I know accidents happen on country lanes as much as more busy roads but its just the way I feel. Ideally, a home from home, bridleways, forest ... we have been thoroughly spoilt, I know.

Am also taking it as an omen not to let him go ...
 
No, and at the moment she is not being very specific. I asked for approximate post code and she said it was Hedge End, PO30, take a look. Looking at googlemaps, where the litte red flag is, its really built up and if thats all the info I can go on then its a no go. I did mention going a little further out but she seemed reluctant so I have said its a no.

I feel bad because she sounded great but its not what I want for my boy, he is used to lovely ruralness. I have a perfect home in mind and to be honest unless I find it he won't be moving. x
 
There are some lovely yards very close to Hedge End, prob with the SO30 postcode but on the outskirts...google Quob riding school or Oasis, which is on the door step of Manor farm country park with great hacking. I think you need to see exactly where she intends to keep him before you totally rule it out.
 
Botley is about 5 mins from Hedge End, and you are starting to get into countryside there. My horse is presently kept in Botley, but I am actually moving as we have no hacking and the roads are so busy that they terrify me. If she were to go towards the Fair Oak or Botley areas she would be a bit more rural, but it all depends on the different yards how much off road hacking there is.

SO30's a big area which can range from built up to riding straight onto the downs. You'd need to know actual location to rule it out :)
 
I've decided not to proceed and she is in agreement. She was adamant the postcode was SO30 and it was Hedge End she wanted to keep him, not Botley, not anywhere else but Hedge End.
