Hi, a friend and I are hopefully taking our ponies to Thetford this summer to camp for a holiday and wondered if there was anywhere people would recommend hacking to, etc while we're there? We're staying at Little Lodge Farm; http://www.forestlodgeholidays.co.uk/index.html, address is Little Lodge Farm, Santon Downham, Brandon, Suffolk. IP27 0TX. We've also heard that there's a cross country course in Thetford forest, is this open to the public?? Thanks, Ellie!

You're probably thinking of Elveden Chasers, and yes, it is open to the public :)

Don't forget to ride down to the river for a paddle whilst you're there too.

The hacking is just brilliant off that yard ( my friend liveries there), lovely sandy tracks that go for miles. O, and Little Lodge have some XC jumps themselves I think too?

Hacking is amazing, I went to Little Lodge in March ( I go every year) Straight out on to forest can ride for miles and easy to find way back, they do have some xc jumps but not many left and some deffo need some TLC but quite a few that are jumpable. Would highly recommend a trip to Holkham beach its AMazinnggg. She will have a great time its a friendly yard and the people that run it are really nice and helpful.

I went to Little Lodge last year with a friend. The hacking is amazing, directly onto the forest. You can hack for miles, and go into the river. My avatar was taken there.

They do have a small cross country course in a large field next to the forest, and a little mini track with logs in the woods.

You'll have a lovely time. :)

Thank you caz:) We're camping, does anybody happen to know if there's anywhere to charge our phones if battery goes dead? And do you need to pay a deposit beforehand before you arrive?

Just a quick question, do they have showers that the campers can use, or are we going to have to smell a bit?:L It'll be like pc camp all over again!

Not any more :( Due to a road being widened, the horse course has been shut since the works essentially cut it in two - last day it was open was Sunday

Was a right bummer cos we were going to go for one last jaunt there on Sunday but gave up as the weather was so abysmal  :(

That's such a shame! I was looking at some vids on youtube, and the jumps in this one look great: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n-umRB6C00c&feature=related :/

So is this road widening permanently closing the course, what are they going to do with all the jumps?
