I've been told that riding in Cirencester Park is great and I should box over and go riding there because I have no off-road/grass hacking! I've got the map out and it shows lots of 'rides' - broad ride, wiltshire ride, coates ride, bath ride, ten rides, park corner ride, overley ride... It looks like a huge area so I'm trying to work out first where I could park the horsebox and secondly what bits I'm allowed to ride on? I'm desperate for grass to ride on as I only have roads around my home. Any advice would be great!

There are great gallops there and plenty of places to leave your box!!

Highly recommended. They're doing a Cirencester Park Fun ride on the 1st November as well if that interests you.

There is parking at the end of the daneway which is one of the rides. You can leave your trailer there and the ride leads straight to the park. If you know the area at all you head towards Stoud past the Ag college, then after about two miles turn right towards Sapperton, drive straight for another two miles into the village and round a sharp left hand corner then immediately turn left. If you go down the hill and past the pub you have missed it. The parking is about a mile down the lane on the left. However if your horse has any issue with stepping over the "horse friendly" sleepers they put out to stop motor bikes and things I would recommend parking somewhere else as after 45 mins of trying to get my horse over I had to give up and ride to the park on the road.

Cirencester Park is great - we usually park up by the Haley (sp?) Sawmill on the Cirencester - Stroud Rd and enter at the gate there across Three Mile Bottom and up to Ten Rides - from there the choice is yours

I've also seen people parked up along the road up to Sapperton to enter along Broad Ride.
Have a great time.

I parked on a lane off of the main road past Agr College, it's past the actual turn off into the park. The lane is opposite the footpath and you can then unload and walk into the park, but you have to cross that busy road, so it helps if there are a few of you or someone on foot.

It is so great there, you forget where you are and it's just fab. You will have wonderful time.

Let us know how you get on.x

Sorry to raise a old thread, but, Does anyone know where I can get a map of all the different rides, and where you can go ? Have a couple of weeks off work and want to make the most of it.. Thank you

The Cirencester Park endurance ride is on from 30th aug to 1st september. There are pleasure ride classes on all three days, but I'd recommend first the friday, as that is the quietest day with no endurance races classes being held, or if you can't get there the sunday, as there are only a couple of races that day (obviously from this most are on the saturday). It will give you a good viewing of the park & its layout, with a map & well marked route to follow. Wonderful ride, one of my favourites, loads of cantering on lovely tracks. PMGo to the endurance gb site & look under ride schedule tab. All entry forms can be downloaded from the site, but be warned there is a closing date of 20th august. If you want to enter after this ring the secretary & see if there are any spaces left.

Not wishing to run into herds of fast moving endurance riders on my gentle hack tomorrow - anyone know where the routes are published? Found the endurance gb site but no routes on there?? Last time the ride was on my dopey then loan thought HUNT! and bounced for miles,I fear the current young spookmister may react even worse. Seems a bit thoughtless to general park riders not to let's know the route so it can be avoided?.

Any idea on the above?

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a route through the park which doesn't at least go close to the route of the ride - there are 100kms worth of loops being ridden today, all within the park. It should be a bit quieter this year though as there are no FEI classes, and if you go later on during the day the only people left on course will be the longer classes and they'll be pretty spread out and probably steady away at that point.

Thanks, saw some in the distance having taken a route off the beaten track but no drama! I don't have any other option than the park where I am currently, not complaining its great -all events are poorly signed though, last month I met a load of off road motorbikes ripping up the lanes! That was more of a shock to the wimpy welsh!
