How I did it thismorning, I dont know!!

Got up at 5am, got to yard by 5.30am, had mucked out, ridden and walked the dog and was home by 7.10am!
Even got to work on time for 8.30am.

Ive been told the horses are going to be in all week now (even though the weather is lovely today!

So everyone is cramming into the indoor school in the evenings and with all the horses being rather sharp at the mo, its just not safe, so I dragged my sorry ass out of bed and went and rode thismorning.

Needless to say Im at my desk now with a very strong cup of coffee!!!

FWIW, the first week's the hardest, then you get used to riding at the wrong time... I used to ride v early before work for years... It's a good feeling being out & about while everyone else is asleep & quite satisfying that then it's done for the day. Just check your appearance in your car mirror to make sure you don't go to work adorned with bits of hay of lumps of mud... The other day I was on the tube & this guy kept looking at me, so I thought I must be looking particularly hot that morning... then when I got to work I discovered that I did in fact look particularly stupid cos I had a HUGE bit of hay in my hair. And that was just from chucking hay over the fence...

Yip, I ride sometimes b4 work, get up at 6am however dont muck out as dont have time and horse then goes out and muck out at night instead..(or OH does it) Well done you for getting up at 5am and being on time for work!!

Sending extra mug of coffee your way!

Oh I wish I could get out of bed in the morning to ride! I'd much rather ride in the morning, but I'm FAR too lazy to get my ass out of bed! Maybe I'll give it a try once my car is fixed...Well done

you have to make yourself go to bed early too.then it will be ok. sometimes i sit in the chair and cant be bothered to go to bed.this is not good.

Me too. Its not as bad in the summer when the mornings are light but when its still dark outside it seems un-natural to be up and riding.

Put two on the walker, mucked out Snoop. Took the two off the walker and put the other two on and mucked out Bertie.
Took the two off the walker and tacked up snoopy by 8am, rode till 8:40 got to work at 8:57 lol

I would love to be able to ride before work. Except being miles away from the yard I cant ... but hopefully when I move house it will be a possibility

It is a nice feeling, I did it for the first 2 weeks G was back in work so could hack him out. Cant seem to do it at the moment though

Blimey that was good of you! Are we allowed on the yard that early? I'd like to ride before work but was told yard doesn't open until 7am? (which I thought was rubbish if you're on DIY).

I was thinking before Christmas that schooling in the evenings goes out of the window - all we can hope to do is exercise our horses and be as safe as possible. If only the outdoor was useable it wouldn't be so bad...

Unless I ride before work I don't get to ride this time of year at all. I get up at 5, I'm on the yard by 5.15. Horses get brushed the night before so I can just chuck tack on in the mornings which means I can just about do 45 minutes flatwork each on two horses. I chuck them out in the field (weather permitting) and try to get a minimum of 6 stables skipped out before getting home at 7.20 (given in & am deep littering them this winter which I don't like doing). Quick shower, slap some make up on so I almost look human and out of the house by 8.05 to be at my desk for 8.30. It is one hell of a rush but worth it! What I find hardest is getting up that early when I have ME which means ideally I should still be in bed sleeping until at least 8am every morning

Hmm, I feel bad feeling so proud of myself now!

You deserve a medal.

Yeah, I think other rules should be abandoned at the moment, it's ridiculous them being stuck in - it's a lovely day today again. I used to have such a nightmare getting off the yard by 8.30pm when I worked in London. But at least the school was always empty that late.

My god woman I thought there was only one 5.30 in your day and that was PM!

Have a pat on the back for me! Ill think of you 2moro morning as I roll over in my bed for another snooze

The worst bit is that I do all that in the dark - I don't have an arena of any description! Nothing like riding in a howling gale & p1ssing rain in the dark on 1000 acres of open common land

Um.... 8. But not all are in work - a couple are babies & one is my old chap who just does a bit of light hacking with the kids I teach at weekends. I try to make sure I work my 2 competition horses at least 3 days during the week, the fun horses tend to do less this time of year but I will try to get on them all at least once during the week and of course, both days at weekends. Roll on spring so I can ride all evening!

lol you sound as busy as i will be in a month or two...
crazy.gif

Currently got 4 horses in work regularly, 2 to be brought back into work and another 1 coming this weekend....

Between me and B (he rides 2 of them), my friend is down one day at the weekend to help but its gonna be hard!
