Riding boot recomendations

The zip has gone on my riding boots- it might be reparable, but my parents have very kindly offered to buy me some new ones as my Christmas present and there look to be some good deals around at the moment.

I'm looking for recommendations for long boots which will stand up to regular use (i.e. not just a pair to be brought out for shows), ideally less than £200. Doesn't have to look super smart, necessarily, but I'd like them to last at least a few years as my main riding boots. They'd be just for riding, I usually wear wellies for yard work, but might have to cope with e.g. walking through a bit of mud out hacking if I've got off for some reason etc.

I've got quite short legs and calves, and small but wide-ish feet. I generally find yard boots a bit too clunky to ride in, so after "proper" riding boots. Any suggestions gratefully recieved!

Ariat are smart and don’t take much to break in. Try on a few styles so see which you prefer and then order in the Black Friday sales (Rideaway, Naylors, Hope Valley, R&R country and houghton country often have good Black Friday sales on boots).

Tredstep is ok, but be wary and try them on in store. I got a pair in a sale in store, but found they were horrendous to break in and don’t fit as nicely as my other boots do. I have wide feet and they don’t accommodate very nicely.

The brogini modena ones are okay for what you’re looking for. Not overly expensive. Have a decent sole for walking but not overly clumpy. They’re elegant enough but also not too elegant that you would be upset walking through a bit of mud with them.

These are what I currently have- I bought them about 18 months ago, and one of the zips is completely gone, so I'd like to try something else. Happy to spend a bit more on something that will last.

Ah funnily enough that’s what I’ve just replaced for the same reason! I went for hy terre riding boots but I wouldn’t want to walk through mud with them.

Yes, it's difficult - probably what I really need is a pair of decent yard/country boots, but I don't like riding in anything too clunky, and I'd ideally like to be able to use the same pair of boots for schooling and hacking. I don't mind cleaning something off after a hack, though.

I like my equitheme boots, come in a range of calf sizes & look more expensive than they are.
Mine have held up well to daily riding in all weather's. Not sure they'd like walking through mud though

Mountain Horse are sturdy zips, - Aurora slightly more workmanlike (but still beautiful) or the Sovereign are a much thinner leather IMO a bit flimsier but lovely. Noth around in the Black Friday deals easily under £200

Thank you for all the suggestions and links!

Lovely to have a present. But bear in mnd that zips can be replaced. OH's Ariat boots had a zip replaced.

Yes, I will probably get the zip replaced and keep the boots I have as spares or donate them!
