Magic, Roxie and I went to Chobham & District Riding Club camp at Boomerang this weekend and had an absolute blast!

Friday:
Arrived in the afternoon to settle in and go for a mini hack around the XC course which is really cool, with a very Australian feel, along with a rather large elephant in the middle

Magic usually lives out and settled in really well with lots of hand grazing.

Saturday:
Dressage lesson in the morning with Nikki Kerr where we worked on suppleness and bending without me over-using my hands. A really useful exercise to get Magic really stepping under from behind was to put out a square of poles and walk around in the inside of them as close to the poles as possible- definitely an exercise I'll try again at home.

SJ lesson in the afternoon and Magic was flying! The fences were mainly animal themed which you can't really see from the video, but we had a giraffe, zebra, duck, butterfly and an elephant.

Sunday:
Sunday was XC day and I woke up hungover and a little nervous but once I had clambered on board the nerves were forgotten and we had a fabulous lesson. I know we're not jumping big, but we're having fun.

Roxie had a great time at camp and I think she liked her first camping experience.

I'm so sad it's over and want to go again!

Sounds fabulous (love the elephant) but it's currently saying videos unavailable - privacy settings?

That's got it :) Super - I love your pony! Nice xc course too, looks like fun.

It only took about 50 attempts as for some reason you can now only upload 30sec videos onto Imgur.

Magic is just brilliant- she loves to jump and always tries so hard. It's lovely to be on a horse who takes me to a fence and she's teaching me so much.

She does look like she's taking you to the fence and enjoying herself. It's lovely to see!

Lovely report!! Magic looks like she is having a blast:D:D
We are going to Eland Lodge camp in 3 weeks time, I've never done a camp before!! This makes me even more excited ha ha

You'll have a great time! I've done 4 RoR camps and they were all great fun as well.

It's lovely to spend an intensive few days with your horse and you learn a lot watching everyone else's lessons too!

I cannot wait, as you said above a few days of just me and him- shall be bliss!!
I love watching people ride and learning from people lessons I just very rarely have the chance as I'm usually the one riding all the time:D

Your camp looked like so much fun, adore your pup too!! How sweet!
Any tips on things I need to bring but may not think of? Already started writing a list as long as my arm:rolleyes: we are travelling nearly 4hrs to Eland so cant really nip back for anything! x

I had a whole long list- can PM you if you want it!

Sounds like you all had a great time :) I had hoped to be there too, but Fuzzy not quite ready and a brother suddenly staying put paid to that idea.

I didn't realise you were so close to me- are you a member of CDRC too? Hopefully see you out and about in future!

Well done! I love Magic and Roxie, they're both lovely :)

I’m very lucky to have them both 😍

It sounds like you had a great weekend, and I love all the jumps. I wish we had that kind of thing here it sounds like so much fun.

Not sure where you are, but you’d be surprised at how many are about! I’ve just seen that Talland are doing one where you can bring your own horse or ride one of theirs.

You’re very close to me too! Nikki is my instructor, I love her shes fab!

It’s a small world on HHO! I really enjoyed my lesson with her, gave me loads to work on!

Looks great. Loved the videos. They have some nice jumps and good to see there is a decent range at the smaller end. I’m due to go in Oct for a camp, although wondering if it’s likely to be a bit wet and muddy by then.

Are you going to boomerang for the camp? They have paths leading to most of the jumps, so I think they would be ok even if it is a bit wet and muddy 🤞

Yes. I went once years ago and thought it was a great venue bit far for me for a day trip but ros canter will be teaching at the camp in Oct. bit bonkers as I’m jumping like 70cms but couldn’t resist!

That will be brill! There’s lots of normal sized jumps and we didn’t get time to jump them all so there will be plenty for you :)

Definitely do a report afterwards!
