Asking on behalf of my sister who has qualified in the Novice. She has only done the one RC competition and we don't really know anything about it. It's not her horse, but someone elses - is this something that is at all good for a horse to have on it's record as having done?

It's miles away and none if us feel that motivated but could be convinced if there was any value in it... Thoughts? (be honest!!)

If you are talking about whether it would add financial value to the horse, then I think it depends on the type of the horse concerned. If it is an animal that is suitable to be a top class RC or PC horse, then yes if you did well there I think it would make the horse more attractive to the PC/RC market.

Lincoln itself is a lovely showground so it is definitely worth going on that basis, and if others from your club have qualified then you can have a party whilst you are there! We went last year and really enjoyed it, although I have to say we were lucky with the weather - if it had poured it may have been rather different!

Yes - it would probably be great fun if someone else was going, but the team didn't qualify and nor did anyone else... so we'd be on our own. Meh. Doesn't really sound like its worth the trip tbh, horse does good at BD so maybe just stick to that, not sure she is the PC/RC type.

I'm going :) Went as part of a team about 3 years ago and it was good fun. Qualified as an individual two years ago and decided not to make the trip as seemed a long way by myself. This year though we qualified in the pairs, our novice dressage team qualified, and I qualified as an individual in the sj. So it seems more worth the journey!
So it really depends, as people have said it's never a bad thing to have on records, but then if horse is doing BD fairly successfully and would be sold in the future on that basis then its probably not overly relevant?

I think if you are part of a team it would be worth going, as would be good fun

However I wouldn't go by myself to that, as too far, cannot win money, not that much prestige and plus has a nasty habit of rapidly becoming a mud bath.

Then again I am very "meh" at the mo!

If you are not going then you need to inform the office now. The qualifying place could be given to the next highest place from your qualifier.
The rule book states:
Rule G22 (p7 2010 rule book)
"Clubs or individuals entering Area qualifiers must be willing and able to compete at the Championships should they qualify.Teams or Individuals not wishing to compete at the Championships my enter the Area qualifier and compete HC if the organiser is willing to accept them and they are eligible. Any team or individual competing HC will not be eligible to compete at the Championships"

There are many riders who would love to qualify for these Championships. By not going you could be denying someone else a place who really wants to go.

Oh! I will make sure this gets sorted, thanks for pointing it out.

I went the first year they it was held at Lincoln - typical, as Three Counties is virtually on my doorstep! It is a lovely showground and we were lucky with the weather, but I would not have gone alone. Although I competed as an individual, someone else in my club qualified for the dressage so I was able to go in her lorry - I would never had driven there myself.

We have been every year for ages but not going this year. Don't want Rafi doing an elem. test on grass as he has had a little bit of fluid on his hock this year and don't want to risk a slip on grass. Penfold was doing the open Sj teams but after his nose bleed at the eventing champs after xc we have decided to withdraw and have his operation bought forward. He probably wouldn't bleed show jumping but it is not worth the risk. Lincoln is lovely if you are in a team but a bit lonely on your own

I'm going this year as our team qualified for the show jumping, praying for no mud or rain as I'm roughing it in my lorry. We're all very excited to be going even though its going to be an epic journey to get there from South Wales

i always like to do any championships i qualify for, as long as money and capability allows!
you might not get the chance again, and its always a great acheivement to have got there and competed at such competitions

Brilliant Championships! Been there in blazing sunshine and the horrendous mud conditions of 2008 and have always had a great time!

I'll be there again this year with my 12 team mates and I think we might have the longest journey - over 10 hours from North of Scotland - but we are determined to go whatever.

It will be my last year doing dressage as we will be out of points very soon :( so I'm going to make the most of the occasion :)
