I am doing my first showing class this weekend with my new boy! eek!

He doesn't really fit into any of the other categories e.g cob, hunter or coloured so as we need to go on an outing we are attempting riding club horse!

What is the correct attire for both rider and horse?

Thank you if you can help!! x

I normally wear a navy jacket and tie as thats what I look neatest in but a tweed and tie would be ok. Then canary jods and long black boots and gloves. For your horse either a snaffle or pelham/double with plain cavesson. Your normal saddle would be ok if its a local show and have a little discreet numnah underneath, either black, brown or white depending on your horses colour. Then plait him up if hes not an m&m and make him look sparkling :D! Dont wear boots on your horse as you might only have to jump one jump and the judge might want to check his legs. Treat the class as any other flat class and the most important thing is to smile so the judge knows your having fun :D :D !! Have a great time and good luck!

Piccy of me doing RC horse (We won it!)

I'd say you would probably aim to turn him out to type and look neat yourself. I would think a tweed would be most correct but you would be ok in black or navy. In terms of the horse plait him unless he's M&M, traditional or hogged, and put him in a bridle with a cavesson that suits his type (so if he's a finer tb type maybe a prettier and finer bridle, if he's a bit chunky a hunter style bridle) I'd put him in a snaffle ideally I think because of the type of class but if he goes better in a double or pelham use one.

Tweed with a shirt and tie would be more correct but dark jacket is ok if thats what you have- do be careful to check the schedule as usually RC horse has to be ridden in a snaffle..

No offence to Sparry's beautifully turned out horse!

Thank you for all your help!

I will use his normal snaffle as he goes well in that, but would I be able to use the flash strap on the cavesson?

Also my tweed jacket is chocolate brown, would this be ok?!
