I am uming and ahhing over doing this at a local show next week. But will be on my maxi cob so will I just get laughed out of the ring? I want to use it as a bit of a warm up for the coloureds and cob class but also to do something different and think why not I will be there anyway??? But don't really want to waste time/money if that is the case

He does does do all riding club activities, SJ, XC, Hunts, played at dressage a little bit so kind of fits the bill.

Any words of advice or help would be great, thank you!!

Oh and would I really have to wear a snaffle or could I get away with my pelham

Go for it. I have been in RC class with cobs. What does it say on the schedule about bits? I have always done mine in a Waterford and had no problem.

Cant remember about bits in Riding Club Horse Class but if it is a small show I would just use what you are happy with. There is absolutely no reason why you should not enter a maxi cob into this class. This class is judged on suitability for horse to rider and its manners, way of going and conformation, so a mixture of things. You will probably have to jump one or two jumps but nothing huge.

Good luck!

Thank you!!!

Will stick with my pelham then I think. Oh he loves a jump so we will be fine with that, unless its too small and he just ignores it

Right doing entries for the third and final time now!!

Riding Club has to be a snaffle, sorry last year i was in a class and they sent them out to change bits if thery were in pelhams!

Hmm I feel this show may be different as last year there were gags, martingales and blue boots and I think some of those wearers were even placed!

Some shows say snaffles only. I done this class loads of times and either won or been placed and never been sent out for using a Waterford.

Some shows stipulate on the schedule that RC Horses should be in snaffles. If they don't, then I would assume you are free to use the bit of your choice, but don't be surprised if the judge shows preference for those in snaffles. Personally, if the horse goes happily in a snaffle I would use that but if you do decide to use the pelham I would have a snaffle available just in case the judge lays down the law - you can never predict anything at local shows!

Why not use the snaffle - he may suprise you!

Buuuut I may give it a go, so apologies to anyone in my class or around the ring.

It doesn't say anything in the rules about bits, as I know at some shows for this class it does. Will be something different and interesting though I guess

I've done this class on my TB... Last time he won! Then he won the Champion sash too! It was only a local show (...so big fanfares please!!!)... but I rode in a snaffle and no martingale. It was definitely a preferred look for the judge , who didn't place anyone with lots of tack. Less is more I think.
But if its just a warm up class for you... use what you are comfortable in... above all its for fun !! Good luck.

Well a very well done to you!! WHOOOOP WHOOOOP!!!!!

Neither do I lol but we need to try and kick butt in the other two classes as it was so close last year but my horse likes having issues...gets over one then it's something else.

I have just ordered a waterford fulmer so hope that will be here in time, we have our first local ODE the week after so should probably practice cantering around in a snaffle away from home for that, then back to dressage legal bits ehh

hiya

I watched a rc club horse class last week. There were all sorts, cobs, TB's, even a pony, I will say tho that the finest horses were all placed quite highly. They did go better tho so if he goes well.....
They were all in snaffles as well
hth

Took mine in one, (small unaf. local Riding Club, just perfect for a baby I thought) in a snaffle, all ready for the little jump etc. and they judged the thing like a Riding Horse class, no jump, all the others were in double bridles on mature show horses and when the judge rode my horse she mostly complained about my saddle!
We didn't win.

The judge rode ?! Usually riding club horse is just simple tack, preferably a snaffle and some state you have to have snaffle. You then do simple show and sometimes include small jump. It really doesn't matter what type of horse you have
