I am planning on taking my colored to Fenwick show at the weekend and i am thinking of entering Riding club horse for the first time and i have some questions.

1. What type of bridle should my horse ware a flat hunter bridle or a normal bridle?
2. Tweed or Black jacket?
3. Is it okay to ware my long brown leather boots as all her tack is brown leather?
4.Velvet or Black hat?
5.Should she be plated up?

Horse: Willow is a Irish sports horse, 15.2hh, non-native, Tri-coloured, Mare.

Plan to ride like this (Accept with a snaffle bit instead of a pelham) is this okay?: http://i737.photobucket.com/albums/xx11/HevenzAngel/Riding%20Club%20Horse%20Question/536850_385988538109452_100000949264224_1032246_106840713_n.jpg

1.flat hunter bridle, should be snaffle bit for rc horse
2.tweed
3. should really be black but if brown is all you have then thats fine
4.velvet
5.yes

It is still a show class so you need to turn out like it, good luck!!

RC horse is judged on the horses way of going and suitability for riding club activities, not a 'show' class (i.e pretties pony class). She should therefore be show to suit her 'type', which is a hunter. Same when she's being shown as a coloured: she needs to be show to type.

SO:

Plain hunter bridle but RC has to be a snaffle only.
Def tweed: always looks much smarter. Tie, not stock.
Brown boots fine if they look good although black is more traditional. Short boots are NOT correct unless you're a midget child. You'd need gaiters if you want to wear them.
Velvet hat to complement your tweed. Leather chin strap if possible.
And yes, she most definitly should be plaited! She's not a native so can't be shown with full mane and tail, and she's not really heavy enough to hog. Trim all excess fluff off (inc feathers) and plait mane (and tail if not pulled)

that is what i meant, as it is a class in a show and not a show jumping class, dressage etc you would need to turn out to type....which is basically what I said lol

I would go for a plain bridle that suits her head - not necesarily a hunter bridle as she doesn't have a heavy head. Brown tack and brown boots would be great, and a velvet hat. Definately plait the horse.

Good luck and have fun!x

Thank you for the advice i will just turn her out as per for ridden coloured classes that she does but ride in a loose ring snaffle. Will ware my long brown boots as they are much nicer i didnt want long black boots with brown tack thought it looked a bit out of place. Do i have to ware brown gloves or can i ware navy to match my tie and hat?. I take it that shes not to ware a velvet brow band and just a plain one?.

Plain bridle inc browband for her. She's not fine enought to get away with a coloured browband. Gloves should match your tack but you'd be ok with navy gloves if you've not got brown.

Have fun! It's nice to be correctly turned out but not the end of the world if your glove don't ,atch or your tacks not brown etc. It's meant to be fun!
