riding club horse HELP!!

This year after much thinking, i've decided to do the riding club horse, and possible working hunters (if they still run the class) at Whitacres and Shustoke horticutural society Show in July. What do i wear (i am a lad remember!) and what about turn out for flint?as in tack etc. Thank you

Hacking jacket, beige jodhs, brown gloves. No hairnet for you!! Long boots.
Brown tack if poss. They prefer GP type saddles to dressage saddles. Either no numnah or a discrete brown / black /white one depending on your tack.
In the jumping part of WH you will be able to use boots for your horse and will have more options for bitting.
Best bit for RH is a double or rugby pelham. If not you should get away with a snaffle. Not sure what you can use for WH.

Used to be a good show - did the hunter classes. haven't been there for a couple of years though. For RC horse i would wear tweed jacket, (plus jods etc!) Flint should wear snaffle or double - you have to jump a small jump, so martingale if necessary. No boots. Needs to be smart. Hope that helps.
- as Mickey says boots permissible in WH jumping - make sure you have reliable groom who reminds you to take them off!!

could i wear my gaiters or do i need to invest in a pair of long riding boots? ive got a normal black velvet hat i use for DR and a shirt and black tie that i use for hunting, does that sound ok? Will a normal snaffe surfice or do i need one with a hunter noseband? as ive never used a double bridle before. sorry for being so ignorant of what i need and i appreciate your help

Gaiters are fine as long as they're leather and black, For wh you can jump in a snaffle (in novice classes you have to) and can wear any suitable noseband so a flash, grackle or drop is ok and a martingale is also allowed, you have to do the second phase in the same tack you jumped in but you do have to take off boots for the second phase. I wouldn't use a double bridle unless both you and the horse are used to one. Black velvet hat is fine as long as it goes ok with your tweed jacket, try and get a coloured tie, maybe red, as it will make you stand out a bit. If you can it might be worth going to a show on foot and watching a wh and riding club horse class so you can see what everyone else is wearing and what type of course and show you're expected to do.
