Does anyone know if the British Riding Club rules for tack at Horse Trials differ from British Eventing?

I'm doing Ardingly Riding Club's horse trials on the 26th April and I see that they are running their horse trials on the BRC rules rather then BE.

Any help gratefullly recieved, especially relating to dressage tack i.e. nosebands!

According to my 2009 rule book it states:
"Nosebands are obligatory(drop,flash or cavesson with a snaffle and a cavesson with a double bridle or grakle)"

I presume you are fully aware of BRC Flu vac policy? They are zero tolerance on any errors. This policy can also be found on their website.
 
So I can use a grackle noesband with a snaffle for dressage?!

His flu and tet is completely up to date, so no worry there!
 
The flu/tet thing goes back through his entire vaccination history. If he has ever had a flu jab more than 365 days after the last without restarting the course, then they will not let you compete. Remember leap years in this too

Oh no..... I have a replacement passport from this year as he is an ex-racehorse who's owner at the time lost his passport.
He's completely up to date though on his current one.

Perhaps I should just go British Eventing!!!!!

Random fact - you can compete in BRC horse trials side saddle but not in BE!
Mind you they used to have a rule that you couldn't carry a whip in the dressage, which made it slightly difficult to do side saddle.
Caused my RC chairman a lot of stress while everyone scoured their rulebooks but was eventually irrelevant becuase naughty horsey napped on the XC and got eliminated

Not sure about the grackle noseband question but I have belonged to Ardingly RC for years and have never yet been asked for flu vaccs proof when competing. If you are in a team it is a different story completely and they are very hot on it.
I don't remember ever seeing a RC competitor doing dressage in a grackle but it may be fine. Why not e-mail them and check??
After last spring's HT, when they had to cancel the XC part and invite everyone to do combined training instead thereby losing lots of money, they have made a decision this spring to change it if necessary without offering refunds. Just a point to note because the XC is often too wet after lots of rain. It's a gamble. I'm doing it as well though!!

Thanks Cavalo, I have emailed Ann Bone, so hopefully I will hear back from her. I know my boy should go in a flash noseband but he goes so much better in the grackle! I'm hoping that as it's a BE 102 test then it'll be ok.
I'm really hoping the weathers ok, XC is probably our strongest section, but I think it's a risk worth taking!
I'm not a member of Ardingly RC yet, so wouldn't need to worry about teams! I'll get a letter from the vet "just in case".
 
You won't need to produce your Vac certificate for non Area RC competitions such as this, but I believe, if you were to enter an Area qualifier, whether in a team, or as an individual, that a letter from your vet stating that your horse has been properly injected in the past just won't do.

You will need to start the course of injections again.

I've started having my youngsters vacs put on both a Vac Card and in her passport, so that if I lose one document, I still have the other to fall back on !

Thanks Madhossy, I'm only planning on doing little ODEs with him. There's no way we'll be good enough to do anything more then that! He's 21 after all!
When I start all over again with a young horse, then it's well worth knowing. Are BE as strict as this about the "whole history" of the horses vaccinations?

New to all this eventing game, albeit at a very novice level. Hope it's as much fun as everyone says it is!!
