Hi i am doing riding club horse this weekend, but not sure what this entails. Do i have to ride in a snaffle?? What are the judges looking for etc?? Can anyone help please
Normally snaffle and no martingale. It seems to vary a bit from show to show - the last one I did they gave us four things to incorparate into our individual show and I have to jump a coloured jump and a rustic jump
Hi thanks for the replies, but what tack? Is it a coloured browband as in riding horse? can it be raised nose bands or flat?? do the judges ride? and do they look for a particular stamp of horse?
There isnt a specific type, I've seen cobs beat TBs and Vice Versa, As long as your horse is calm, responsive and you do a good show, you will do very well. Any, well fitting matching tack will do, as long as is a flash or plain cavesson the noseband is OK.
And as for the browband, I think if you have a coloured browband, wear one, as long as it matches your horses type, ie not a cob.
Just make sure you and your horsey are well turned out and prepared
A whip is acceptable. The judge is looking for a well mannered horse that looks as if it is a true all rounder. I'm no good at links but if you search on Madam_Max's post "my superstar girlie " you'll see photos of her when she won RC horse at a big show despite dishing and having a few battle scars. The best bit is a snaffle of some sort as it implies your horse isn't a lunatic !
Hi
Good luck at the show on sunday, I might be there, wanted to jump but it depends on the ground. Im going over on Saturday morning to help set up so I will see what its like then.
Riding club horse is usually only a couple of jumps 2'3-2'6, just a short show to show your horse paces and they like to see good manners
