Got my first ever riding club competition tomorrow, excited and a tad nervous. Just doing the novice and style jumping - I don't actually know what height either are!

Does anyone know whats required in style jumping?
And anything else about riding club competitions much appreciatesd! :)

all i know in style jumping is that you have to have a snaffle bridle and (ithink) the rule is a clear round in the best style wins

so, middle of the fence, fold at correct time, no mouth jabbing, no sticky jumps, good stride and correct pace - anything else fellow HH0ers.

i think ive got it right
:s

Hi, style jumping is usually approx 2'9 and is judged on your position around the course. you usually have to canter on each rein before the start bell then start your round of jumping making sure your horse is always on correct leed leg and your approach & landing is straight. you also have to carry on cantering around after the last fence until they ring the bell. horse must be in snaffle and i think no martingale, hope this helps!
xx

Brilliant thank you, do you know if it's usually 2"9 for juniors too? It sounds pretty much like working hunter, do I need to great the judge or salute at all?

eta does anyone know if you are penalised for talking to your horse like in dressage?

Don't know the answers to your questions but just wanted to wish you luck and say I hope you enjoy your first RC competition as much as I enjoyed mine today! I only jumped 2ft tho and my style left a little to be desired I just got caught up in the excitement :D

Depends. My RC is having a show tomorrow and the style is 2ft3 I *think*. The only difference for juniors is that they can't qualify for something I think.

Thank you :D Haha, I think I may have the same problem he hasn't jumped in a couple of weeks and has been rather fresh lately! Hopeing it will be 2ft so we have a greater chance of leaving a couple up hehe

Hiya, I can't tell you anything about Style Jumping...but I live in Cornwall to, have always wanted to give Style jumping a try but didn't think there was any down here. So may I ask which riding club it's with? Thanks :)

It's a riding club show but not open I'm afraid so you'd have to be a member of a riding club I think. Not sure whos running it but down at chyverton tomorrow (:
