I'm thinking of joining a riding club but tbh don't really know what they involve

I'm relatively near to both Lambley and Sutton Bonington - are they mostly about showing or do they do other things?

Can anyone help my befuddled brain?

I'd like to do a wee bit of local showing and have a go at some dressage and little cross country stuff

more interested in meeting people and improving and trying out new things really.

Long Eaton riding club is good. At their shows there is ridden and inhand showing, working hunter, showjumping, handy pony, games and dressage so there is something for everyone. I used to be a member when I lived down there, not sure about recently but when I was a member the shows were always very well attended.

Lambley I only ever went to twice, my opinion of it was small and friendly but the overall standard of competitors was very novicey.

Sutton Bonington I went to a few times, you get more of a range of standards there.

I am very into showing and don't really do anything apart from that so my knowledge of the local xc etc is about zero.

If you wanted to venture a bit further there is also South Derbyshire saddle club at Ockbrook near Derby, I used to be a member there too.

sb is nice local one
long eaton is very good too!

if you have transport to get places then arena Uk is good, vale view is good, barleyfields often has events on and has indoor and outdoor schools (as does vale) so I doubt are cancelled on calls of bad weather.......

Lots of options round you

Lambley used to have a riding club. Not sure over the last few years though. Theres Doverbeck very near you, I'm at Calverton. There's Kirkby RC and I forgot the name of the one near Hucknall on Annesley Road.

Doverbeck do a Dressage comp as well as the showing and SJ.

Here you go Lambley Riding club although there ground is a East Leake??

Warren something?

I used to do that one and Silver Horseshoe. Thing with the Warren one is that if some chump leaves the rope open and your horse makes a bid for freedom, it's straight onto that major road. Seen it happen when I was there

Yep, kept horse at Southwell for 11 years before I moved up to Lancs. All my family still there, so I pop back a couple of times a year.

It was Suthull to me ... probably not to my sister who now lives there.

My parents used to own a pub in Hoveringham, hence keeping pony out that way, even when we moved into Nottingham.

Arena UK have a riding club and do a bit of everything - showjumping, dressage and showing (inc. some good worker classes). The facilities are great too.

The other club that seems to do a lot of stuff including training is Rearsby Lodge. They are in Leics but not too far - mostly held at Brooksby College where they have the XC course.

East Midlands Dressage Group are quite a competitive club and do lots of stuff too!

Blidworth RC is based at Blidworth Equestrian.

Good luck!
