Hi I'm mid forties with a new Haffie girl and we are keen to be out and about this summer. I'm interested in others views on riding clubs and if at my age joining one again will be of value or will I be laughed out of school as an adult pony rider.

If you are laughed out of school then you will have approached the wrong RC!!!
Ours welcomes all and has something for everyone :)

I thought riding clubs were the domain of the over 40's! Our riding club caters for everyone of all levels and ages including the oldsters like me.
Contact the local one's to you to find out what they do and join up. You'll have a great time and you'll meet like minded people.

I'm agree with all of the above. My club welcomes riders of all ages and abilities and makes everyone welcome. I'm 59 and ride a highland so grown ups on ponies very welcome at our club. Go for it. You'll have great time and make new horsey pals old and young.

Just another vote for joining a riding club! Ours is great, the trick is to find one that suits you, so investigate all those nearby so you can decide which you like best :)

I think you're out towards Gainsborough aren't you? I'm on the committee at Maltby RC, our club field is in Tickhill, and we love to have adult members - as a registered British Riding club, we're expected to encourage everyone, and I hope we do. We'd be delighted if you came along. We have shows through the summer with points and then a party near Christmas to present cups and rosettes, and then we have a couple of indoor shows through the winter. SJ is always indoors. Have a look on our website - google Maltby and District Riding Club

If you enjoy eating and drinking and have no objection to riding around the countryside in fancy dress (which on one charity ride was themed on decorated bras  ) then our RC would be fine for you :D We have members ranging from a three year old to her great grandmother, with her mum and grandma as well, all riding members :D
