Does anyone else ride before they go to work?

I was down at the yard this morning at 6:30 and rode this morning, well went for a short hack around the village while it was a bit cooler, plus I woke up at 5am with this stuffy weather and couldn't get my head down.

Now I feel knackered and could really do with hitting the sack

and its only lunchtime

Poor show!! I ride before work about 3 days a week. It sets you up for the day - gorgeous! Plus it's cooler and quiet at the yard, lovely!!

Make a habit of it and you'll get into the swing of it I promise! Although a word of warning... it's a bit harder in the winter!!!

Every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday I am down the yard at 5.15am, tacked up by 5.30am, ride until 6.15am then untack and scoot back home into the shower and off to work by 7.30am!

Trust me it does get easier although I'm usually flagging by about 3pm! The peace and quiet of the early mornings make it all worthwhile, although I usually school in a morning, I couldn't be ar$ed this morning, so I hacked out and saw a lady walking her dogs, a car, a pickup and a sprayer buggy!!

But the bridlepath was nothing but tweeting birds!

I ride in the mornings most of the time - I find it much nicer as it's quieter, I get the school to myself, it's cooler and it means I don't have much to do when I finish work

Once you've done it a few times it gets easier

I love riding before work its so nice to ride when its quiet and no one around plus if your anything like me your more alert and can get better results.

Well talking of peace and quiet, which is what I thought....only the early sunshine and birds for company etc, how wrong was I, I hit the rush hour.

Obviously I timed it wrong, because everyone Tom, Dick and Harry was rushing off to work and the village 30 zone was more like the Montreal Grand Prix!

And I'm the one gets the dirty looks because their speeding and have to slow down!

Yes I ride before work and big bonus no horse flies! Downside is that horsey is quite often flat out asleep. The other morning I was standing there like a thelwell cartoon, hat on head, saddle over arm... horse on floor zzzzzzzz

I have gotton to the point now where with some people I purposly ride out from the kerb and plod lol where as other people who are generally nice ill trot up or allow them to pass,
One day out riding a lady beeped at a guy in his car for being reckelss whilst we were riding then pulled out and appoligised and explained her appoligy to us which was nice,

Lol! It can be a nightmare hacking out first thing

If I'm hacking out I'd usually go either off road, really early or in the evening

It's so hot at the moment though it's not very good riding after work!

My sentiments exactly!

I always ride before work, up at 5am, on by 6am, OH wonders when he'll see me otherwise! lol Much nicer as cooler, quieter and less dogs about on the common, and puts me in a good mood for the day. Very nice in the summer, but doubt I'll be doing it in the depths of winter. I found it quite hard in the first week, but was up before my alarm after that!

Think I'll be doing this tomorrow, plan to be on by 7am, otherwise I'll meet the school buses - double decker - on the country lanes - not that much fun if the horse is in an amusing mood!!

I try really hard to ride one of mine before work - I'd got down to just one horse recently so could ride after work no bother but am temporarily back up to 2 again so one needs to be ridden in morn again

Due to the nights never getting dark in Norway in summer, I usually always wake around 3 am (thats why you find me posting a lot between 3 and 5am lol).

I sneak out of the house and go to the yard have a cuppa enjoy the quiet as kids and hubby in bed still, ride, clean tack, loose school or just groom. Sometimes I just sit by the field drink a cuppa and watch them! It our time pre 9am...

I go to bed between 10-12 wake at 3ish and try to fight waking up but usually fail, very frustrating so the horses usually end up seeing me between 4-5 am. Then back home to prepare breakfast and sort kids out for day then office for around 9am.

In winter I sleep all night usually brr it gets so cold and dark at 3pm and not light til 10.30 ish. I have lived here for 6 yrs and still cannot adjust lol. But many Norwegians are the same as me so I am not alone here with my insomnia.

I rode early sat and sun and it was FAB def going to be doing it again, the only bad point is I was fast asleep at 9pm and O/H kept waking me up cos he hadnt seen me all day

Oooh - you lot have inspired me! I am going to start some early morning rides again. I used to ride at 5am when I had the loan of a traffic shy horse but I haven't been out early for years. I used to love being out and about before 6am - I will definitely do it again if these temperatures continue!
