Im after recommendations for a new riding hat suited for a round shaped head rather than an oval shaped. Been to a few places today but there was limited choice and wasnt that keen on either.

Champion fitted best but found it very deep fitting.

Charles owen was ok but only their round version and not theirs standard. Didnt think it looked anything special unless you went for the £200plus ones.

Tried a Casco Mistrall 2 Skull Hat on. Which i liked as it was adjudtsble and didnt make my head look like a mushroom. But it was more bike helmet like with no padding as was designed to be lightweight. No idea on safety standard either.

My friend has just bought a harry hall one which looks nice.

I will probably have to buy online unseen which i didn't really want to do as i wanted to ensure it fitted properly but no one seems to stock other brands anywhere local.

Thanks.

Ive got a round head and get on well with Charles Owen. Ive got one of their XC hats and their velvet Hampton which is lovely and as low profile as they get. Very comfy both of them. I also find GPA fit nicely too but not sure what sort of hat you're looking for. I found Champion very oval shaped, didnt fit on my head!

I have the harry hall legend. Just got a new one (same size) but they have changed the design slightly and it seems smaller, but that might be cos mine has expanded over time!

Charles Owen hats have genuinely saved my life twice. I won't ride in anything else now and I find them really comfy and I can be in them for large lengths of time no problem.

I have a super round head and couldn't find anything at many of the local tack shops that was comfortable.

I called ingatestone and they suggested this: http://www.charlesowen.com/gb/products/competitor

I went and tried it and it fitted really well. Four years on and its the only hat I've ever had that i can wear all day and not end up with a thumping headache at my temples.
