Riding Hat - Got Wet and Now Smells

As title

My Charles Owen velvet hat was in the wrong place in the tack room..., i.e. under a leak

It has dried out, but smells

Is there anything I can do to get rid of the smell, or is it off to the shop for me to get a new one (ouch!)?

You could try something like febreeze on the velvet outer.

Another vote for Febreeze.
If the inside stinks too, lightly damp, use some baby shampoo & then sponge off & leave to dry in airing cupboard (works on motorbike helmets too)
Then attack with febreeze & leave in fresh air to 'ming out'

You can get stuff for cleaning motorbike helmets which I guess would work - OH uses it
