Riding hat headache

My riding hat has suddenly started giving me a headache, it was fitted professionally (but quickly as I broke mine the day before the last lockdown!) and was okay although never felt the best fit it hasn’t given me headaches before.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas before I buy a new one?
This one wasn’t cheap and I haven’t fallen in it (yet!) so don’t want to replace it unless I have to but it’s making riding really uncomfortable

I expect it’s too small. Go back with it to where you bought it from and ask them to re-assess it.

It’s a recent issue (I’ve had it since the start of lockdown 3.0) and my concern with going back there is they only have this style and one other that I already know doesn’t suit.
it’s got a dial but if I loosen that at all it’s then too lose and wobbles

It’s either too small or the wrong shape for your head-try a different make.

Does it have a liner? I have this occasionally if my liner moves slightly and has a crease in it.

No liner, sadly I think the hat is just the wrong shape, I’m really hard to fit a hat to and the place I got this one fitted isn’t my favourite but it’s close and I literally had 5 hours to get one fitted or not ride through lockdown.

luckily I fit in junior hats so they are cheaper than some, this one was more expensive as the place didn’t have this style in junior.

I had the same issue earlier this year. Hat I’d had for about 2 years started to give me headaches.
i was deliberating about replacing it but then had a fall which meant I had to anyway, no headaches in the new one.
No idea why it started to give me headaches after a while, I couldn’t see or feel anything amiss.
Not very helpful but it may not be just you!

My hat is comfortable if I am riding on my own but not if I am with somebody else. Chatting means my hat is no longer comfortable. Fortunately I very rarely ride in company.
