Hello all, I would love to get a new riding hat, I liked the Champion Ventair, but I have a problem, with other hats I take a 6.7/8 size, but in the Champion Ventair this size is too loose and the 6.3/4 seems quite tight. Has anyone encountered this or should I just forget it and look for another hat I like. The lady at the store was of no help saying it was up to me.:)

I have the same and it was VERY tight when I tried it on.
I told the lady this and she tried another one and said it was too big (felt fine to me) but a few months down the line, its fitting fine now :)
If it really does feel too tight (as in circulation dying tight!!) I wouldn't go for it, but they do tend to be a little snug for the first few months.

I had to buy a new hat recently and tried various scullcap style hats including the Champion Ventair. I always used to be a 6 7/8ths in the Champion 'Junior' jockey caps but found the Ventair too big even in a smaller size and it also felt very shallow. I tried a vented Charles Owen hat and that was a bit better but it didn't fit very well at the back. The best fitting hat was the Gatehouse HS.1, which I ended up buying in the end, but a size down from my usual. I hadn't really wanted to spend that much but luckily as it was a 'child's' size and 10% off in the sale it wasn't too bad in the end! I'd recommend trying the Gatehouse if you have a small head, and it has the highest safety rating which is no bad thing. It does help if you have a shop assistant who knows how to check the fit properly and has an idea of how all the different hats fit. I was really impressed with the lady who fitted mine as she seemed to have a really good knowledge of the sizing and fitting of all the hats I tried.

The Champion Ventairs do come up big and as they are so shallow unless you have the perfect head for them you will find they won't fit when you have to go down a size.
We find most peeps have to go down at least one, normally two sizes.
They do not suit everyone as they are so shallow. For some reason we sell more to men and tiny sizes!
