I keep dropping my hat (I’m blaming my adhd induce clumsiness!) but obviously keep replacing it is expensive! I’ve done it twice in the last 18 months, and its not even a small knock, last night I heard it crack as it hit the concrete

- Is there any reason a pan adult can’t wear a junior helmet? Obviously they are cheaper and my head is small so junior helmets tend to fit

- Is there anything I can put my hat in that will protect it from smaller knocks?

Of course you can wear a junior hat/helmet! I do, and I always recommend this where practical.

I find I am less likely to drop it if it is in a proper padded bag (and the padding helps protect it if it moves in the boot of my car).

It's so annoying when you drop a crash hat onto a hard surface, isn't it? Been there, done that.

How were you carrying it at the time? I've learned not to hold it along with other tack and equipment, as that's when I accidentally let go of it when I hang my bridle etc up. I make a solo hat carrying trip or keep it on my head til the last minute :D.

Maybe I should just put it on my head at all times! I ride at a few different yards so was carrying that and my body protector

I too wear a junior one, the price reduction is quite staggering and altogether baffling as it’s the same size as an adult one and same standard.

On head at all times for me. Due to a tragic family accident years ago, I put on my hat when I get out of the car at the yard and keep it on till I leave. I wore it always when helping out on a yard. And it gives protection if one accidentally stands up under a metal saddle rack.

I always wear junior hats- the 20% VAT reduction makes a very welcome difference to the price! Fortunately, unlike kids clothes or shoes, they tend to be the same design as the adult sizes, or very similar.

I agree with the posters who've said keep the hat on your head to avoid dropping it, it also means you can carry more bits of tack without a hat in your hand. I use a padded bag though when competing/going to fun rides/lessons/etc as I found to my cost that it is too easy for a loose hat to roll around when travelling and then fall out when you open the tack locker/car boot.

I wear kids size hats. Whilst I am usually very careful with my hats this one is about 5 years old now, stuffed with SoftBan in the front to make it fit and I don't take the silk off, ever, so I cant see the nick of it underneath!

Que - Being told off for being an irresponsible hat person!
