Hi, i'm thinking of getting my helix (top ear) peirced but wondering if it will be hurt or get infected when i wear my riding hat. Has anyone got there's peirced? :)

Had it done years ago and I could stand the pain of having my hat on. I've had my rook done and it took nearly 9 months to heal fully and stop being painful to touch.

I've got an industrial piercing on my left ear, and it healed pretty well in about 12 weeks while getting bathed with salt water twice a day. It doesn't interfere with my helmet at all, though I suppose it would depend on the position of the piercing, and the cut of your helmet.

Hi. I have mine done and personally find a hoop more comfortable. But it's up to you really. Never had a problem with my piercing and riding hat.x

Hi I had mine done a few years ago, it's never got in the way of my hat. I generally wear a stud in mine. But I've never had a problem with it, just keep it clean for the first few weeks after you have it done and you should be fine :)

I've had mine pierced about 10 years now and it isn't a problem with my hat. It hurt like hell at the time though, couldn't sleep on it for weeks, but then I am a bit of a wuss too.

ETA, I have a stud in.

Get a stud first off, they're easier to clean than a hoop. Make sure you're pierced with a needle rather than a gun, and don't bother with buying cleaning fluid - an egg cup of water with half a teaspoon of salt (it should be mildly salty, like tears) will be more gentle on the wound. Enjoy your piercing!

I had mine done but I took it out 4 weeks later as I was fed up of not being able to sleep on that side!! Now I can't sleep on either side because I thought it was clever to get a 16mm Stretcher in!

Thank you for all your advice, I am excited to get it peirced now! How long did it take before you could sleep on the side you had pierced again?

Got 4 helix piercings :D 12 piercings in total and 12mm stretched ears, never had any problems at all.
With regards to sleeping; the very first helix ring I had was hell, couldnt sleep on it for about 3 weeks. The ones that followed were much easier. I dont think anyone other than me does this but I've found that forcing myself to sleep on new piercings sorts me out :D

You lucky, lucky person.

I have an industrial / scaffold piercing. It took near enough 2 years to heal, and was a real pain with any kind of helmet. It's fine nowadays, but I can't put into words how glad I was that I didn't fall off in those two years. It was sheer agony just to touch, let alone knock!

Where are these 12 piercings? I have 7 in total:- 2 lip studs (Snake bite) My nose, My belly My ears one at 16mm and the other at 10mm

I had mine done and it was fine to ride in, however after a few years of it disturbing my sleep I gave up and took it out.

I also have my conch pierced and that is fine to ride with, but again it is painful to sleep on and still occasionally gets infected, even though I've had it done for at least 3/4 years. The only reason I wont have it taken out is because I can't unscrew it!
