I need to replace my riding hat, and would like to know which types of hat other people with oval shaped heads are wearing?

My current hat is a navy JTE classic; and it fits well. When buying it I have also tried a Champion hat; which was completely the wrong shape.

I have an oval head - quite narrow from side to side, but longer than average from front to back. I find Charles Owen fit me well - Champion are a terrible fit on me!!

DH and I wear the same size hat but have different shaped heads so we can't wear the same hat comfortably. As I understand it your head either fits the shape of Champion and Harry Hall hats or it fits Charles Owen, and JTE. There are other makes that fall into one shape or the other but I can't for the life of me remember the names and which are which! I do know that DH has more choice than I do headshape wise, so you should find it easy to get something, he has a lovely Just Togs show jumper hat with a leather harness at the moment, for me to get something similar I would have to pay about double

This is a co-incidence! My daughter's been borrowing my hat, but find she's getting a headache. So we've just been to try some and decided her head's the wrong shape for most hats. :o If it's long enough front to back, you can get a hand under the sides!

So, I'll be watching this thread with interest. And I can tell her she's not alone in having a peculiar shaped head! :p

I have a funny shaped head too, exactly the same! :( I can only wear Charles Owen's showjumper XP with padding in the sides! I can't find a helmet to fit, which means I can't do XC!! I have tried EVERY HAT in our local large country store, it took 2.5hrs!! :(

I will be watching this thread :D

The strange thing is my head is round and I used to wear Champion - my sister's head is oval and she used to wear Charles Owen. Now we both wear Gatehouse HS1s!
