Im thinking of trying one to see if theyre lighter than the average hat, I get headaches from having a hot head! They look very lightweight..anyone got one? What are they like?

Champion also do a lightweight called the Universal. I bought one, but it arrived without any of the padding, so I went to the other extreme and bought a Ventair

. I wore it on Sunday in mega heat and was not too bad. It is very light and comfortable.

I have a metallic pink troxel...call me a chav if you like, but I love it!
They do take a bit of getting used to though if you are used to traditional hats, as they are a fair bit bigger, and the adjusting system is a bit fiddly at first.
Definately reccomend them, though, much comfier and more breatheable than any other hat i've worn!

I have a Troxel for summer riding. I don't get "sweaty hat hair" after riding, even if I've been hacking for hours in it.

The Dublin Onyx is fab - lightweight, vented and the most comfortable hat I've ever owned. Looks a bit like a cross between a normal skull cap and a bicycle helmet and is padded at the back of the head. It has a detachable peak so it looks good but you can put a silk over if you want eg for x-country. Best of all it comes in black or purple - I have the latter and love it!

I've got one of the really cheap, basic ones from Robinsons that looks like a cross between a bike helmet and a giant mushroom. They're all I've used for everyday for at least the last ten years and they're wonderful. Whenever I have to wear my show hats or borrow a hat off anyone else I hate them and I'm reminded how top my everyday hat is. You can even take the velcro peak off them and put a silk on for cross country where IMO comfort is vital. You forget they're a bit ugly once you've worn them a couple of times and when you get off your not left with the attractive "hair welded to your head with sweat" look. They feel nearly as nice as riding with no hat. Try one.

Polys hats are alright. I would never have bought one but we're sponsored by them at work and they're pretty good. Also very cheap (£20ish) and you can buy them in tescos! They do scuff fairly easily and you can't put a silk on them but they adjust by a little dial at the back which is great if you want to use in on multiple people and be safe
