Morning all,.....

I currently have a 3 year old Gatehouse Puissance I bought off my sis in law when I started riding just over a year ago. Remarkably we have exactly the same head size, 1.5 !!

Now, I love my Puissance, can't feel it at all when riding and the fit is perfect! I haven't fallen in it (& neither had she) but lately, particularly now the weather is starting to heat up I'm finding it a really hot hat to wear and am wanting something with a tad more ventilation.

I've been looking at the Charles Owen Pro II, Ayr8 or possibly the Champion Ventair. I'd probably keep the Puissance as a winter hat for another 2 years or so unless it gets damaged.

I'm going to buy online eventually because pricing is competititve but my order of pref thus far is Pro II, Ayr8 then Ventair. I know I need to go and try them all on for fit, but what I'd really like from you lovely ladies is some insight into the ventilation of these hats first, or ventilation on hats I've not shortlisted ;)

Thank u :D

I had the ventair skull. Hated it. Didn't find it any cooler. Hated the bit that went on the nape of my neck making me feel even hotter.
Was pleased when I had a fall as had an excuse to buy a new hat!!
They also come up large in sizing so you might need to factor that in if you are buying online.

I had a Champion Ventair and also didn't find it any cooler than a non-vented hat.

I also tried a Troxel (can't remember which one) which had bigger vents but it was really uncomfortable and gave me a headache.

I now have a Charles Owen Ayr8 and I love it. It seems to cool my hot head quite well (except on the very hottest of days I still get a bit sweaty) and it is so comfy and has a lovely low profile so so huge 'mushroom head'! :)

I've got a Tipperary vented hat - got it from "Performance Equestrian" and its brill! A lot of endurance riders use them, and I can see why.

You can wear it for hours and not know its there, and mega-cool.

I've got an oval-shaped head, whereas everyone else out there seems to be a round-head!!! ;) so I really struggle to get a good fit.
