I am after riding hat recommendations. During summer I use ventilated helmets, I have a Kask and a Gatehouse. The problem I have during winter is when it rains I get a wet head (obvious really). I am determined that this year I am not going to be a fair weather rider so am looking for a new hat to keep my head dry. Problem is I dug out my Charles Owner hat that I have not used for about 2 years, and now find it dreadfully uncomfortable after about 20 mins, as is my HS1.

Has anyone come across a lightweight, helmet that fits like a vented one but without such large vents to let water in. I looked at a Samshield the other day in the tack shop which although its vented, vents don't look huge.

Suggestions please

You'll get a wet head even without vents tbh. In fact, I've just bought the below uvex because it's less likely to go soggy in the rain and stay wet for days than my (lovely) padded charles owen.

It's sort of like a bicycle helmet and hopefully it wont hold water as much

I rode for three hours during Storm Adrian in my Uvex (with vents closed) and don't remember getting a wet head.

Alternatively, you could get one of the very glamorous waterproof covers for one of your existing hats that you know fits you. They don't look great, but would do the trick for far less cost.
