Riding holiday for experienced riders ?????

well im guessing it may not fit the bill but i went and worked for johnny harris in bordeaux: lovely weather, nice horses most ex top class sjers and the best teaching ive ever had. i thought i wouldnt get to ride but johnny himself taught me daily i improved more in a week than i had done in the 8 years ive been riding. however its basically all jumping lessons
 
Have ridden in UK/US/Eire/South Africa/All over Europe/Australia and NZ but without doubt the BEST ever riding was Mongolia - YOu know the phrase 'It's like outer MOngolia'?

Well there is absolutely nothing there and we rode almost a mile apart from each other, didn't matter. The tour guide said, 'you see that mountain? Head over there.'

FANTASTIC but not for the inexperienced or nervous or frightened of um.. falling over a yak on way to pee in a hole at 3am after a night on the mares milk brew!

Spain or Portugal beach rides? Ranch holdiays - go through a British brochure as there are lots of ranch holidays advertised on the internet, but very variable standards.
Eastern europe, lots of new rides opening up.

You have to be an experienced and fit rider to go to Africa to ride through herds of wild animals, in case you have to get out of the way quickly. What about India?

Any riding company should discuss what you want.
 
I went to Jordan earlier this year and rode across the dessert for a week on lovely forward going arab horses, camping with the beduoins en-route. Was amazing!!! As much open space as you could ever wish for!
 
The BHS are organising several challenge rides next year to places like Iceland, Mongolia, Spain and India. Why not combine a holiday with raising money for charity?
 
Castle Leslie in Ireland is beautiful place to go. I rode 4 times whilst I was there around the grounds and the xc course which has hundreds of fences. Some of the horses were a bit ploddy but I was given a fantastic 15.2 who had a great pop and turn of speed. The yard there is also beautiful, as is the hotel, if a bit pricey.
Really recomend it, google it and take a look on their website :)

Try equitours, I went to the states with them this year and rode to the grand canyon,amazing!great horses and great people and hosts,scenery I will never forget!
 
Search La Fiaba in tuscany (she posted on this thread as well, advertising someone who isn't her!!)

I worked there over the summer and cannot reccommend it enough! (now off the payroll and back in "sunny england" btw ;) )

The horses all need riding to get the best out of them and the rides can be adjusted to suit the riders. I led a few rides out and can firmly vouch for the sheer beauty of the scenery and the availiability of canter tracks ;)
 
TransWales. Guided trekking at our amazing mountains in the middle of the Brecon Beacons. No beginners so no plot along. They have been in business for a long time and know the area very well. Check out their website.

Agreed the riding is amazing....the accommodation/hospitality is not! The riding half is also well run, the accommodation half felt akin to being in prison at some points. Having said that, I'd probably go again because of the location and the riding :p
