As it says on the tin really...

I'd like to go on a 'oliday soon and I'd really like to go to Iceland on a riding holiday.

Does anyone have any recommendations, not just for Iceland..?

My budget isn't unlimited but student loan comes in in a week

and I could use some of my savings...?

As a side also, does anyone care to join me?!

Hey,

Have you seen the Brooke charity Iceland sponsered ride? I reallywanted to do it but you have to raise £3k in sponsership which I thought was alot on my own! If you think you could do it, it was 10 days across the Icelandic plains on tolt horses - REALLY want to do it!!! Worth a look into it if nothing else.

Yes, my loan is on the 11th. God bless the student loans company.... when they don't mess up grants!

I went to Iceland in 2007. Was totally amazing, horses, scenery, people..the whole lot. I went on a holiday organised by a company called Discover the World, they in turn use an Icelandic company called IsHestar - if I was to go again I would book direct with them. I went on the Northern Exposure ride which was in northern Iceland and totally awesome. I would love to go back but word of warning - it's not cheap.

A friend of mine went to Iceland and raves about the holiday and the ponies. I'm not sure who he went with, but I've been on a couple of holidays through http://www.inthesaddle.com/ - really good company and I love drooling over the holidays on their website! I'm off to Los Alamos (Spain) for the second time in March, I went there for a long weekend a couple of years ago and it was great. Also did their Jordan ride and it was really the holiday of a lifetime.

Also did a couple of days riding in Morocco last month, which was wonderful and pretty reasonable. I posted about it in PG if you want to take a look

I think I have the travel riding bug, it's an expensive one to have though!

Can jou - in spain - near girona airport. I`ve been three times and I cant recommend it highly enough. Fantastic horses, amazing scenery, great food and accomadation and lovely people. Rides vary a lot in terrain but invariably have lots of fast bits and if you go on the mountain rides lots of incredible climbing up and down mountain sides. Basically you ride places you`d never think of taking a horse - they are so sure footed.

I went to Iceland a couple or years ago and booked through Ishestar. Fabulous holiday and very well organised. Wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

I went to spain with in the saddle and would highly recommend them! They do an iceland holiday too.

They aren't the cheapest but very good quality and very reassuring. They also include more than most similar holiday organisers.

Couldn't fault them when I went, the ride leader was excellent, the accomodation was good, the horses were good and well looked after, the food was good, the trips were good and the hacking routes were great.
