Hi,

I am looking to go for a long weekend away on a riding holiday but I dont just want to plod around, I would love to gallop on the beaches, jump and explore without being with a massive group of novice riders.

I put my horse out on loan and have been horseless for nearly 2 months which I love as I just don't enjoy it anymore, so I want to do something fun that may get my love for horses back..

has anyone been on an amazing riding holiday that they can recommend?!

Thanks in advance!

I have not been myself, but a couple of people have recommended FreeRein to me. You can go out without guides, so you could go out just you and your friends and would not need to worry about having novices holding you back.

I think you are meant to sign a certificate of horsemanship to say you will not jump or gallop the horses though.

I am considering booking one of these holidays myself, but like I say have never been so can't vouch for it.

If you go with Free Rein I think you have to have a guided holiday first, before they let you loose on the mountains with one of their horses!

FreeRein is good though, although the amount of cantering would depend on the group you are with. They are not glossy TBs, but cobby types, but they are perfect for the terrain which is across mid Wales. Lovely countryside, up and down mountains, crossing streams, good stops for food.

Hi, I've been to Freerein 6 times, all unguided - excellent each time HOWEVER there is not jumping and true galloping, if thats what you are after.......
Can definately recommend plus you don't have to go on a guided trail first.
