Has anyone ever been on a riding holiday? Any recommendations?

I'm looking to go on my own, for a few days and hopefully have an amazing experience. I would prefer somewhere that involved a lesson or two as well as hacking but it's not essential :) I don't have a massive budget, but could always save up and go next year if needed.

Is it best to stay in the UK or go abroad?

Thank you :)

Definitely not, would take ages to get through security! I've not been abroad on a riding holiday but I do take my horses to stonetrail in the Eden valley. They run trail riding but also you can take your own horse and stay self catering and either trek off on your own which is what I do do if you're more sociable (!) you can ride out with their trail rides. I find it a great way to get the horses really fit- and they are really friendly and organised there.

Last year, I have been to Wales for a 3 days riding holiday (hacking only), was about £500 but did not include lunch and evening meal : http://www.free-rein.co.uk/ .. it was really good ! I also been to : http://www.fermedujoualvair.com/en/ but that is in Becanourt (Québec, Canada) so the flight would be expensive, the "Cowboy weekend" was really good though ! ( my husband had a GO Pro so he filmed this : http://vimeo.com/100492909 )..also been to a full day in the Pyrenees in France..that was amazing !
