So who's been where and what was it like?

I'm planning on having a holiday soon and would like recommendations.

I'd love to get my jumping sorted out as I'm awful at that!

I'd hate a huge group lesson place where nothing gets taught or learnt and having to ride outdoors in the rain for a week

I've checked with all the usuals- Talland,Wellington, but they're booked up.
any thoughts?

I am just booking one at Raygill riding holidays in Durham. They look really good and someone on here has ridden there too.

Can't recommend anywhere but just wanted to say that I'm going to Anglesey in August for a few days with Chumley and I am sooooo excited

Can't wait to have a ride on the beach - never done it before!

I had a great time at the Scottish Equestrian Hotel http://www.scottishequestrianhotel.com/ in Lanark (ClaireT's place).

Family run stables with full board (good food), massive indoor school, really good tuition, good horses.

Went on my own once (met OH there!!!) and then went with OH a couple of months later. We were the only people there (admittedly out of season - November and March) and riding was arranged around what we wanted to do/our levels. Relatively easy to get to - close to Glasgow/Edinburgh and I am fairly certain you can sort out transport from train stations/ airports (certainly worked when I was a kid).

We go to a place in wales where you can ride on the beach, its in Pembrey Park, which is really nice.

Its pretty hardcore and outdoors all the time getting wet, don't expect you will learn anything but to stick on - loads of gallops, flat out on the beach, galloping down tiny tracks in the forest jumping logs etc. Really good fun, would recommend it to adrenaline junkies!

I have heard that Anna Harvey in Ireland will teach jumping non stop and also specialise in XC, fancy a go there myself! BUT if you can afford to spoil yourself look at the castle leslie web site, looks brill!!!

Wheal Buller (also known as Cornish Riding Holidays) in Cornwall- it's fab, I know there are a few people on this site that have been on holiday there. I ride there regularly as it is my local yard, and I can't recommend it highly enough. Just google their name and you'll find the website.

If you're looking to go abroad. I cannot recommend enough, Los Alamos in southern Spain, towads Gibraltar, Cadiz, Jerez. It's run by an english family, who are just the most welcoming people. It's set in a national park so you go out riding some days amongst the forest and other days for blasts along the beach. And the horses are just fantastic - so well looked after, well behaved, but certainly not donkeys just following the one in front, you do have to ride them. I've lost count how many times I've been. If anyone wants to know more, please feel free to pm me.
