Or cob classes? :p

What do you think he looks more like, a RH or a LW hunter?

Have a show in April am thinking of doing, and there is a fair few classes we can do, but most interested in novice RH (large obs :p) or LW hunter?
He is 17h, with about 8 and half inches bone. He is also still very gangly/baby like, which is why we would be sticking to novice's :)

Opinions please?

what do you think? :) Cob classes obviously :p

LW Hunter. I would think he'd need a pretty head for RH, rather than a handsome head which he has. He's a lovely boy and I think you'll do well with him - certainly coloured classes. Why not try him out at your local RC shows in the spring in Hunter and RH - I used to do that and often won both...!!! Don't forget to change your browband though..;-D

I would have to say more riding horse type for me (sorry Doris!)...

Looking at the ridden pic in your sig, he just doesn't look to have enough chunk to be a l/w hunter....

I show coloureds at county level and have to say I think he would do v. well in the coloured classes (but you still have to turnout according to type).

lol, yep hoping to show in coloured classes too :)

thanks doris, I thought more LW, but he looks really tb when anyone rides him  The show in April is the winter champs (starting small & low key me) but we don't really have local shows, only counties :p

What are the requirements for a coloured class? Never done one :o

Echo 100% I had one that was a little in between LW Hunter and RH some judges would say one some the other and he is slightly smaller build to mine to def riding horse

I Also think he would do well in coloured classes

For the coloured classes (CHAPS ones), you'd be in the 153cm and over, judge rides, confirmation trot up included, turn out according to horses type...

Will try to find some pics of l/w hunters, you'd be surprised at how chunky they are....

It depends who the judge is!!!

My friend used to show her 16.3 ID x TB and entered LW Hunter & Riding Horse classes. Sometimes they were well placed with good comments from the judge, other times she got comments of nice horse but more suited to Riding Horse classes as a bit too light for LW Hunter. In Riding Horse clases again one day she could be well placed other days she'd get comments of more a LW Hunter than Riding Horse - as with all showing its down to the judge. She was a nice type and quite often on the days that the judges liked her she would win and then go on and do well in the championship other days she would not be placed

For what its worth he is a nice looking lad - enter him in both classes and see how you do.

thanks all :)

Its one of those grey areas I know :o

I can see why he would be more of a RH body (having seen some of the LW winners who I would consider MW ) but a hunterish head
Never easy :p At least I know he fits into a coloured class :p
