riding in edinburgh?

After a horrible 10year period without horses I really want to start riding again. Very limited money so can probably only afford one or 2 lessons a month but would like a fairly decent horse and instructor for this short time. I have no car either...Tower farm stables is the nearest to me but unfortunately only do individual lessons in the week, no good for me-I definitely want individual tuition and work during the week. Can anyone suggest any other options? Im desperate to ride again, and would consider many alternatives!

Try Appin equestrian out at Drem (http://www.appinec.com/index.html) - way better than Tower (which I still avoid like the plague). You should be able to get public transport out there if it's a problem.

I used to get Ann (proprietor) when I rode there (when horseless living in Edinburgh) and she was excellent.

There is Houston Farm. Only been once to a uni riding comp but they had really nice horses.

avoid Tower Farm and Lasswade. Appin is OK but difficult to get private lessons and have heard that Anne not teaching much these days. Houston is OK, Whiteloch Farm has a good instructor.Junior instructors at Kingsbarn EC in Falkirk are brilliant if you cant afford a senior instructor. you can certainly get a train easily enough to a local train station - they have some wonderful schoolmasters, well worth the trip.
