My hubby has told me to find a riding establishment in Florida and look into organising a ride for all the family when we go in July.

So I thought I would check on the HHO oricle to see if anyone knows of a nice place to go. We will be travelling about so doesn't really matter where it is. We will be based at Kissimmee but will be heading down to the Keys etc.

I can't wait!

There's this place http://www.grandcypress.com/equestrian_center/

Have never been there but know it's there through a friend

[/ QUOTE ] I've ridden there. Its ridiculously expensive, but great as a holiday treat (which is why they can charge silly prices). Its a very professional place, high standards in tuition, stables and menages when I went. That was about 3 years ago.

Have fun

Yes I thought it was too but like you say it is a holiday treat

We want to go on a trail ride. But thanks for letting me know they have good standards as I have heard that some of them are quite poor

I used to go to one up near Tallahassee but I don't remember the name of it now, however I did find another one where you can either go out for a trail ride with a guide or rent the horses.

I love north Florida and there is wonderful riding up there so if you have transport you could pop up there very easily from Kissimmee. Here's the link of the place I found:

I went to Grandcypress to get some tack.Dident ride there but it did look a stunning place to ride. But if the tack prices are anything to go by the riding will be mega expensive.

Hi
Yes that's the one that Tia suggested too. It does look lovely. My only real concern is it looks a bit 'British' and I wanted something more western and a bit different from home. I can ride like that anytime.

I hope that makes sense.

I used to go to Horse World BEFORE it was known as that (used to be called Poinciana). It was ok, although I have heard bad things about it now its gone all touristy. I think its had the Disney brush painted over it!

Best place to look is up Tallahassee way where it really is horsey and more American. Here's a page of places, not sure if its any good:

There is a local Kissimee Rodeo which is quite good, although again unfortunately it has become far more touristy over the years. The barrel racing is pretty neat to watch and the kids can get involved by running after calves trying to get ribbons off their tails!!
