Afternoon all!

I'm off to Ireland (the south) for my hols soon, and will be going on a two hour ride out in Sligo this Thursday week! I am suuuuper excited, as its all a surprise organised by my parents, so no telling if you clock where I'm going please!

What should I wear? I've got jods, short boots and chaps, and they have helmets I can use. Will it be wet/freezing/boiling? Haven't been to Ireland for 10 years, so dont know what to expect.

TIA lovely HHO-ers! Choc-ices for all :D

TG xx

Sounds an ace holiday! If you can transport it safely (perhaps you are going by car?) I would take your hat. The number of hats that get dropped on the floor at riding schools and treking centers is amazing, I can't imagine they will be as well looked after and therefore as safe as yours!
Have a brilliant time, don't forget piccies!

Gloves and BP if you own 'em... I always find that I am jumping unexpected things when I go out with my blessedly nutty Irish aunt - all of 65 and apt to travel across some rough country, all in the name of *****s and giggles.

We are going by car - all the way from London! I'm sure I could squeeze my hat in somewhere, but isn't it also bad for hats to be in hot car boots?

I dont have a BP, but ALWAYS wear my gloves - cantering a certain evil TB, up a hill, on holiday in portugal certainly taught me. I had blisters! Hehe, I think its a bit more of a sedate, w/t bit of canter kinda thing!

I would, I must admit that I also get a bit grossed out if I grab a hat someone has just ridden in - someone elses cold damp hat on my head is minging!!

I'd bring a waterproof and lots an lots of layers-it's quite warm over here at the mo but it's intermittitntly (sp) showery/rainy/sunny. Si I'd reccomend a sleeveless top, jumper, light waterproof so you can shed/add layers as appropriate :D

[waves from about 40 miles from where you'll be:)]

Yes it's very mild atm, and hot enough when it gets sunny. It has been a bit showery lately, so if you have a thin waterproof you may need it, though I find I prefer to get rained on and be a comfy temerature rather than boil in a waterproof.

I really would bring your own hat!:) Jods, chaps/boots all good.

Do check the tack before you get on (some of them are a bit happy go lucky ).

It's a beautiful part of the world you are coming to, so enjoy!! Shame I will be in England when you are here, else you could have come for a cuppa!:D

Sounds like a plan :)

*waves from London* Aw, shame, wouldve been nice to meet another HHO-er!

I will do a little tack check before I hop on, last week before a jumping lesson one of my rein billets wasn't fully in! Now I do a thorough check before every ride *nods furiously*

I'm sooo excited, haven't been to the Emerald Isle for 10 years!

Oh leave her alone for goodness sake:rolleyes:. The rest of us knew what she meant. Most people assume the north means Northern Ireland and the south means the Republic. Therefore even Donegal would be in the "south" lol :).

TG and Col, would you stop your scheming? I will leave him tied to the rail at the bottom of the lane and you can lift him on your way past. OH will be delighted to have one less to look after while I'm away :D

And I don't have weeds here, thank you, just lovely lush grass :D
