Just wondering if anyone had ridden at either:

Dulwich Riding School
On Dulwich common

OR

Barnfield Riding Stables
SE9 2NY

Just wondered what they are like, people, horses, prices etc
Can't find much on the web and have phone phobia

Thanks!

A friend of mine went to Dulwich... she said it was overpriced and the people running the place were quite stuck up...this was a couple of years ago tho :P

Don't know anything about Barnfield

Dulwich riding school - AVOID.

Never ridden at Barnfields

there's wimbledon village stables - 'Giggles' on here, helps there, so you could PM her for more info. Apparently it is REALLY excellent though.

Dulwich is ok, good prices by London standards, have some quite nice horses but not keen on the mindsets of some of the instructors there.

Ask sapphire_girl about Barnfield.

Wimbledon Village is lovely but pricy, especially if you aren't going to become a member.

If Bexley isn't too far for you, then I'd try Mount Mascal, it's supposed to be quite good there

I go to Willowtree which is in the SE, but they don't do hacking or jumping

I'm just in love with a certain pair of horses

I went to Barnfield a few times but only for hacking. As far as I remember there were some nice horses and the hacking in Richmond Park was good. Don't know what the prices are like as I went with the uni riding clb so we got a discount.

sorry this is a bit off subject but i had a brain surge while i was reading this.... the rides through hyde park, are they good? when i went there i saw a lot of beginers doing it, but do they cater for experienced riders? can u trot or at least canter?
we went and had a look at the stables.... i can't remember much cuz i wasn't that interested when i was 11 (lol shame on me) but i can remember it being alright. apart from no paddocks i dont think, but thats the location. so when i go there in June, is it worth having a ride for the fun of it?

Thanks for all the responses guys, i appreciate it!

aussiedressage i dont know tbh

Mount Mascal certainly looks good but i have to use public transport so it might be abit far

but tfl isnt being much help!
I did think about Willowtree but i cant get there by public transport, and really id like to start jumping too

Thanks i will go find sapphire_girl and ask about Barnfield

Barnfield is looking good, but being in london I'm expecting expensive

Hmmm i shall have another think

I have a couple of friends who learnt at Dulwich. They liked it. Yes, is expensive but it must cost them a fortune to keep horses in this part of London + they have an indoor school.

I know you don't want to travel out too far but the riding's generally better and cheaper. Chelsfield Riding School is supposed to be very nice. Is a 30min train journey to Chelsfield and then 5 mins walk.

My pony is liveried at London Equestrian Centre in Mill Hill East which is also a riding school - assesible by public transport.

Groups lessons in the evenings/w.es are £27 an hour and you can hire horses for their shows but I don't think they hack out. If you ride off peak hours then the lessons are cheaper!

Quality of horses and teaching are excellent and very friendly.

Hey, Mudchute Farm is 5 mins from Canary Wharf (DLR) and have good range of horses.I am having a lesson there tomorrow, and will let you know. Depends where you are in London? PM for more details
