Hi,

So it's been a while since I have been on here and I was hoping for some pearls of wisdom from you guys.

I have had a break from riding due to illness and losing my boy, recently a friend of mine and I decided to go for a lesson at some local stables, I have been 4 times now and the first and second lessons were great, 3rd rime we went some different which was terrible then today we went back to the first place. They put me on a horse which I am sure is normally lovely but he had already been on a 2 hour hack and was sweaty when I got on, I really struggled to get him going. Part of this was because he knackered and then part will have been because I simply don't have the fitness in my legs to really drive a lazy horse on. The instructor wouldn't let carry a whip and then about 5 minutes before the end I pulled up and said to instructor that I was struggling. Instead of being helpful she pulled one of the other instructors out who got on with spurs and a schooling whip and made him go he'll for leather round the school.

I know I am not the best rider in the world but I have come away feeling so deflated and like I have gone 10 steps back.

I simply dot have the time to have my own again but I miss it terribly. I don't want to be paying the better part of £30 a week to walk away feeling like I have done these last 2 weeks.

What do I do? Is there anywhere anyone can suggest?

Sorry for the rant.

Grove House Stables is the best riding school in South Yorks that I've come across. Smeltings, Parklands and Westwood in Sheffield are all generally good. Depending on what you want to get out of your riding time and how much free time you have, for £30 a week there are a fair number of horses about that want sharers.

Thank you bethie. I will look them up.

I want to be able to enjoy my riding, feel like I am getting somewhere with the horse and with myself. I have been on the look out for someone looking for a sharer. Have worked out I could do 3 days but there doesn't seem to be anything in my area!

Finding the right RS is a nightmare :(
Have also heard good things about Smeltings, Parklands and Westwood, although the first two a pretty pricey :o

Am trying to find somewhere with fun PC type things for my son that can also help with BHS exam training and Sheffield is defiantly lacking- either too formal or err, no comment ;) :p
